best thank-you card ever

"sing a sweet song"
How happy am I when one of my nieces has a birthday? A GIRL! I get to go to the pink aisles and look at the Hannah Montana clothes and the Mary-Kate and Ashley lip gloss (well, I do that one just for me) and the High School Musical dolls and the purses that look like fluffy white kitties and the little green, giraffe print purses and did I mention the PINK? So, yea, I like shopping for the nieces. Not that I’m not completely thrilled that I get to go to a sports store today to purchase something called UNDER ARMOR for my son who has been asking for it nonstop since Christmas but doesn’t quite have enough gift money to purchase it on his own. Because I am thrilled about that. There’s nothing better than the smell of clothing that will eventually be worn on a basketball court. Nothing except maybe LIP GLOSS and HANNAH MONTANA CLOTHES.
So Abby was the recent excuse for my foray into the girl aisles. And oh I was happy about that green, giraffe-print purse. Abby loves green. And, come on, giraffe print. But I also picked up this jewelry-making kit that seemed fun in which you can spell out all the things you love and strap it to your wrist like a mantra.
A couple days later, Abby walked into my house with this. A bracelet just for me that says – if you can’t read the picture or the caption – “sing a sweet song”. Which is not only the best thank-you card ever and the strongest proof that I did well with the gift-choosing (she was carrying the green print purse as well) but also the sweetest little compliment ever that she thinks I am capable of and/or enjoy a sweet song – because yes I do. And sweet nieces. And lip gloss. And PINK.

Ah, pink. Lip gloss. Hannah Montana. High School Musical. Sweet songs. Giraffe print. Surely it doesn’t get any better than that?
I’ll take the sports store. :-) Never been much of a girly girl myself, and as a red-head, pink has never been my color of choice. Now GREEN is another matter, and the green giraffe-print purse would be cool in my book!
I think Aunt Tiffy recently had a fun little shopping spree for her nieces, as shortly before Easter we received a box in the mail (so fun!) containing two sweet little Easter dresses – we’re talking pastel and ribbons people! And an extra summer dress for Julia thrown in for fun!
Well, unfortunately I don’t look that good in pink either, (I sort of have a redhead’s complexion I think) but Oh, I wish I did. And Sara, as if Abby’s b-day didn’t do it, your comment has driven home just how much I love being the aunt to all these girls. I probably wouldn’t buy them so many frills if I was the mom. And, Sarah, I knew I could count on you for support in such important matters.
That most definitely IS the greatest and most beautiful thank-you gift ever! So sweet.
And can I just say that Abby Blue Bohon is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen?
I would buy Jenna and Baby Jewels the moon if I could reach it to pull it down and look at the price tag.
Just sayin….
:)
p.s. I love PINK.
That is completely PRECIOUS. I bet you are a sweet song to those nieces of yours – and your boys, too.
Hey Serenity! Abby was thrilled about seeing her bracelet on your blog! She is also thrilled that you liked the bracelet. She luvs, luvs, luvs her green giraffe print purse and has been making bracelets nonstop. She is presently wearing one that says “Monkey” on it-so I think you got the best one she has made so far! I really like this new blog page!
I can completely relate to the girl-pink-girl thing. I have boys too, and those girl aisles are a constant lure for me. Sometimes I think, “Hmm . . . who has a girl that I could buy this for?” Because you know, although I love to give out those pink girl gifts, some of it is for me too.
What is it about tiny pink clothes that lures us to the baby aisle? Just yesterday I bought a tiny pink t-shirt and coodinating pink striped dress for the little girl who lives next door. Then I put it in a pink bag and added a pink bow! (Did I mention the pink birthday card?) Hmmm……..
Oh pink isles, how you torture me! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE having boys, and I don’t think I’d even have a clue what to do with a girl most time. Except dressing her! *sigh*
I think I need a niece to spoil. Does anyone have one they’d be willing to share?
Anne, I’m perfectly willing to share. None of my nieces are loved or spoiled nearly enough. We’ll take your gifts as well.
