Good people, sweet awards
Look at this beautiful blog award! It was given to me by Kelly at Cross Your Ts. Kelly is a children’s book writer (you may remember me trying to pass on my Vo Cab idea to her), and she blogs both about her life and about great children’s books. If you need recommendations in that genre, Go To Kelly. I loved her blog immediately the first time I visited, and I’m so touched that she’s awarded me the Bella Sinclair!
You can read about the Bella Sinclair award here: On Ces’s blog. She named it after her friend, saying:
I designed this award to celebrate art in the blogs and to honor the value of friendship, sisterhood, sharing, and caring. It is to be awarded to the gifted, accomplished, eloquent, and talented blogger whose friendship and influence inspire us to do our best.
As you can imagine, wow. I am completely honored. Thanks so much to Kelly! And I’m passing it on to Felicity at Rare Rocks, because I could almost swear the above paragraph was written just for her.
Now, three days after winning my very first blog award (I think, right?) – I won a second one! This one thrilled me right to my toes as well, because – well, first of all, look how cute! And second, my benefactress is Shelli, an author who found my blog goodness knows how and cared to stay. Bless my little blogging heart, I tell ya. Now, this award comes with a couple rules. They are as follows:
1. Pass the award on to 5 most-deserving blogging friends.
2. Link to the author and blog name from whom he/she received the award.
3. Display the award and link to its explanation.
4. The receiver must visit the explanation post and add their name to the list of winners.
5. Winners must repost the rules.
So, Shelli’s blog is called Market My Words, “Rantings and ravings on how authors can better market their book to kids.” And I’m supremely grateful to her for this Superior Scribbler Award and her kind words about my blog.
I’m passing this baby on to Kathy Nickerson, my mom – yes – but also definitely superior in the scribbling; Valerie at Recording the Moments because oi my vay can this girl write about motherhood and family and life; Sarah at I Think Therefore I Blog because she loves Hollywood and Jesus, and her writing voice is sweet and hilarious; Anne & May, because every DAY they are fresh and funny and motivating; and Haley at Carrying Ballast – Read this post to discover the meaning behind her blog’s name, and you’ll also discover what you can expect on her very thoughtful blog.
This is the linkiest post ever, and you’re probably exhausted from all this name dropping. If this was the Academy Awards, you’d be shooing me back stage to the thank you cam right now so I would just shush already. And since I do hate it when thank you speeches are merely a list of names, I’ll try and sum this up in a nice poignant little blurb.
Blogging is a very audacious sort of thing to do. I’ve probably back-spaced way more words than I have written because of all the sentences about which I can’t imagine you will care. These awards, given by people who didn’t grow up with me or give birth to me or ever even meet me in person – they matter, and I am deeply moved.

It’s not often that I write something that could be taken so badly and yet don’t quite know how to word it differently. The people who grew up with me and those who gave birth to me and those who have actually met me: You totally matter to me too. I’ve written a whole book about how much you matter. That last phrase was just really poorly worded!!
Thank you Serenity! I am so honored. :)
Thanks, Huckleberry!
Congrats on the awards! You deserve them.
And thank you so much – I’m honored :)
You are so sweet!
Are you the ‘Huckleberry’ Felicity is referring to?! That’s one of my nicknames (from a last name of Hoeckelberg), and I did a double-take when I saw it!)! :-)
I’d definitely give the Vo-Cab idea a shot! I somehow missed the comment you made about me giving it a try when I posted my comment! :-) If I do it and it gets published, you’re guaranteed a dedication in the book! :-)
I’ll take that dedication, Kelly! And, yes, Felic and I use that nickname for each other. Is your last name pronounced that way then?
I”m so far behind on my blog reading (and writing) that I didn’t even know I had WON something from you! Wahooo from the one who gave you birth. (I totally know I matter.)
Aw shucks, shug! Now I’m blushing redder than a rose. Thank you so much for the award.
We love your blog too. To bits!
dont know how i found it either – just luck i guess :)
