a holiday in pictures

dsc04692This year Grandma Bohon had some extra time on her hands right before Halloween, and Jake was rewarded for it with this gorgeous, plush green dinosaur costume. Dinosaurs are Jake’s favorite thing.

dsc04687The other two – well, they’re going as a black Ninja and a professional trained to actually break his opponent’s bones if that person isn’t smart enough to tap his hand against something, i.e., “Tap Out,” or “Excuse me. You can have your Ultimate Fighting reward. I guess I’d rather have my femur.”

dsc04695Just one thought on my mind during these pictures, and it was how I have to turn the camera on its side now. Didn’t they used to fit in it horizontally? That’s the beginning of the end, when you have to turn the camera on its side.

And finally. The pumpkin carving.

  1. Oh my gracious! That costume is incredible! : )

I sent two kittens to school and one Apostle Paul in chains. The girls have little notes pinned on their black leotards: “To: Noah, 1 of 2″ and “To: Noah, 2 of 2.” It is such fun to play dress-up!

We grew our own pumpkin this year, but we haven’t made it into anything yet. I suppose that should be our evening project.

  2. Well, it is over. Jane has won the Best Grandma in the World contest before I even entered :) I’m so glad she did this, though. Jake is adorable.
And John and Drew look fiercesome.

And I think Felicity’s kittens were a brilliant idea. I’m sure Jesse is doing a great job of singing praises in his chains all day long.

I hope you are all planning to email me picutres so I can add to my Grandchildren on Parade album!

  3. That has to be the cutest costume ever!! Has Jake seen any dinosaur movies, or does he just have an inexplicable love of them? (I’m trying to remember whether Jurassic Park is appropriate for his age.)

Have a great weekend, and a fun Halloween! :)

  4. Haha! No, Jurassic Park probably isn’t appropriate for his age. But he’s seen it a million times (or so). He also loves the Land Before Time quadrupiquintidecatriology (there’s like 18 of them I think). He loves them all, plus the awesome dinosaur toys he’s collected thus far.

That is indeed very precious. And I REALLY understand what you mean about having to turn the camera on it’s side. Missa is SOOO tall…almost as tall as I am, and I’m 5’9″. And she’s wearing a size 9 women’s shoe.

I also sent an Apostle Paul to school, but Shelby was Paul in Rome. All we could find was a tan bedsheet, so we made a toga and made due. Marissa was too old to participate but “got” to clean up after the little kids had their fun (her words not mine!). :-)

There is no “Best Grandma in the World” competition…because they are all the best!!!

  6. Cheri' White says:

What an awesome costume! I’m sure it’s one of the coolest dinosaur costumes ever! All the pictures are so great! And yes, turning the camera on it’s side is also a “turning point”! But, it just gets better and better as they grow! You’re doing a great job capturing and enjoying the moment! Keep it up!

  7. I love the costumes and the pumpkins. Jake will never take that off. I spent this Halloween teaching people from Serbia, Denmark, and the Czech Republic how to carve pumpkins. We looked up patterns on the internet and got a little overly ambitous in our carving. After 4 hours we had made Dexter (from Dexer’s lab), cookie monster, a Danish cartoon character, and Mr. Obama himself. Next year, I’m making a happy face out of triangles.

  8. LOVE the jack o’lanterns Seren, and omgosh those boys!!!!! What cool costumes, one day I SO want to trick or treat the Bohons…..
    =)
