Things That Change Your Life. Forever.
I’ll be singing in a funeral again soon.
It’s been arranged for years. By a woman who loved me more, I think, than I even knew. And I knew she loved me a lot.
She lived within walking distance. Her apartment was literally on the other end of a beautiful walking path that is a few steps from my house. And I saw her rarely. Very few times in the last several years.
This woman prayed me through every single faith crisis I’ve ever had. Every single one. She prayed me through cancer too. And motherhood and sorrow and marriage and graduations and regular ol’ life.
I saw her last night… before. And she said, “Hi, Serenity,” though it was difficult to understand. And then she looked right at me and asked, “What took you so long?”

Wow. I’ll be thinking and praying for you.
Oh my goodness … what a wonderfully special lady. I’m so sorry to hear she passed. I have this feeling that you are going to make her memorial service something special.
Bless your heart!
so sorry :(
Wow. Isn’t it wonderful to have someone praying on you? I always find such comfort in it, especially when it feels like God isn’t listening.
I’m sure you’ll belt out an extra special song just for her.
I’m sad for you Seren, it sounds like the world lost a good friend. =(
I counted a lesson learned from your blog and went to see one of my “Moms” today, Sandy Browning. Her health is ailing and I needed to see her. Believe it or not, she actually brought you up by name in the conversation. We were talking about how Heartland approaches young people courting, and she mentioned that your folks and the Bohons always made sure you and Michael had a chaperone present when you were dating.
Sandy means even more to me now with my own Mom gone these 9 years, and I plan to make sure she knows that now that I’m back home. :-)
